Frequently Asked Question's
- How much space is needed to host a pony party?
- Our ponies do not need much room. Most backyards are sufficient as well as sidewalks, driveways and non-busy streets.
- How old must a child be to ride?
- Children as young as 1 year old may ride if their parent will be assisting them from the ground. Children ages 4 and up can ride with our attendants.
- Is there a weight limit?
- Our ponies can comfortably carry up to 120 lbs.
- Do we need one pony or two?
- One pony can give about 12 rides in one hour (each child gets a 3-4 minute ride). If you would like for the children to have longer rides or if you will have more than 12 children riding at the party, you need 2 ponies. Keep in mind that often children's entire families attend the party, so allow for the siblings of each invited child.
- Can the ponies be decorated?
- YES! Be sure to inform us of any themes when you book your party! Our ponies can wear bandannas and princess attire. We can also braid the pony's mane and tail with YOUR CHOICE of ribbon color!
- What about clean-up?
- No need to worry! We always clean up after ourselves! You won't have to clean up after us!
- When do you arrive?
- We arrive 15-30 minutes early to set up and to ensure that your party starts on time!
- What if it rains?
- We will work in a light rain . If bad weather is forecast for the day of your event, Pony Express will call to verify if we should still come. If you should reschedule or cancel at that time, there is no additional fee due. The $25 deposit is applied to the new date or refunded in full due to bad weather. If you tell Pony Express to come and THEN you cancel after Pony Express has already arrived at your event, there will be a $100 late cancellation fee due and the deposit is non refundable. For more information see our Bad Weather Policy.
- Do you provide anything aside from the pony rides?
- The base fee includes the pony rides, experienced attendants, clean-up and basic pony decorations. If your location is more than 30 miles from ours, we do require a transportation fee of $1.50 per mile one way. The following are available for an additional fee:
- Pony Party favors ($5/child)
- Requested special themes/decorations (private contract)
- Horse doll for the birthday child ($15 to be presented by an attendant and pony)
- Are you insured?
